About Philippines

Creative Industry Philippines
In the last decade, creative industries have been attracting a great deal of attention worldwide. Always considered vital to a people's cultural heritage, but marginal to a nation's economy, they are now acknowledged as major drivers in economic development. This recognition has triggered a global race to harness the creative industries' full potential.

The Philippines is blessed with people who have tremendous capacity for creative endeavors. Everything we have produced-from jeepneys to town fiestas to business enterprises to performing arts and leisure activities-give ample evidence of this innate creative talent. Recognizing this and realizing that creativity adds value to products and services, the Department of Trade and Industry has spearheaded the creation of the Creative Industry Task Force, along with our strategic partners-the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and The British Council. The Creative Industry Task Force aims to harness the country's creative talent and knowledge to fuel activity in the whole spectrum of the economy-from manufacturing to services. In doing so, the initiative brings the creativity of the Filipino to a new level, recognizing its value as an economic asset that enables differentiation of Philippine products and services in the global market. In the process, we enhance the country's international image and make our people even prouder of things Filipino.

Creative Industry Philippines covers six major sectors. These are:
Performing Arts;
Literature and Publishing;
Visual Arts, Crafts and Design;
Architecture and Allied Arts;
Film, Broadcast Arts and New Media; and
Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities.
